I know that this thread has been alive for a day or so, but I finally decided I
had to take the time to tell my story. In the mid 70's, I was a high school band
director for one year directly out of college. Our school decided to stage a
musical, and we were heavy into rehearsals on an every-night basis. One evening
we took a break midway through. I descended the stairs to make a trip to the
band room for something, and as I rounded the corner, I saw my 1971 red Spitfire
sitting in the middle of the hallway! Some of the band kids had carried it from
the parking lot, up a small hill, through two sets of double doors, and into the
hallway, all without getting so much as a scratch on it.
When I fired her up in the hallway and backed her out of the school, I was
astonished that it hadn't been damaged - the sides of the car only cleared the
frames of the double doors by an inch on either side. It was incredible!
