Ummmm, Greg, have you talked to the little lady about sending her out in
a camo Spitfire yet?

You might want to!

-Seriously, why not just do a quick "regular" paint job?  Get out the
power sander, sand that baby down, tape it up, a couple of coats of
primer/surfacer, wet sand and shoot color.  Two full days if you're not
*that* concerned about it looking perfect...   Think about it!  I'm sure
that there are a bunch of listers (myself included) who could offer info
and support.
