summer trip

Hey everyone!
  Is there anyone on the list who lives close to, or has driven the oregon
coast in their non O/D spits?  I'm trying to figure out if the speed limits
are tolerable for my non o/d 1500.  My girlfriend and I are planning a trip
in sept.  and I'm wondering if the spit could be a candidate, or should I be
throwing in a set of main bearings now, or just take her tercel?  I'd hate
to throw a rod or something out there.  God!  Are overdrives expensive.
