Hi again Jay.
The address you show below:
spitfires@autox.team.net
is the correct address to get a message posted to the list. I'm not sure
why it isn't getting out from your end. I will send the message from here
to the list as well as to you directly. If you are subscribed to the list,
you should get two messages. Let me know what happens.
Cheers
Keith

Subject: suggestions for spit project
I've recently started restoring a '71 Spitfire, but am unsure of how far
I need to take the restoration. The body is in very good condition, but the
chassis and firewall are covered in flaking rust. My question is, should I
go as far as lifting the body of to clean the chassis, or is it worth the
effort...would I be further ahead to steam clean the underside and repair
the firewall and avoid the body-off process?
Also, can anyone give me an outline of steps for preparing the body off
process (steering column, proper wiring removal etc). I've been following
the Haynes manual, but it is sketchy on detail for this project. Any help
would be appreciated!
Best Regards,
Jay Heaman
