Yep my 72 has black too. At first I thought it was discolored chrome
but then I found out it was black when I tried to polish it. Silly me.
Of course the 72 has the black around the tail lights too so I think it
looks right.

i think i have to disagree with you, bob. i have a '72 which i
believe to have all original parts and trim still on it, and i have
BLACK seam finishers. my impression was that only round tail spits
had CHROME finishers from the factory.
