Bernard,
You _certainly_ could have a broken u-joint either on the driveshaft or
axle shafts. Time to jack up the car, spin various wheels or shafts, and
see just what is amiss.
The only car I ever had diffy problems with had different failure symptoms
than that. So stop worrying so much. :)
