I bought the Robbins vinyl top for my spit a few years back and I couldn't
be more happy with it. Of course, in Arizona, it never gets very cold or
very rainy, the cold is a consideration with vinyl anything, but the rain
here is short and violently heavy, the Robbins passed the rain test
admirably. I also liked the fact that you have to install your own snaps.
The reason I like this is because the placement of snaps on spitfires is
rather arbritrary. A half inch of slop in the placement of the studs on the
body means that your expensive top with the pre-installed snaps puckers or
stretches too tightly from one snap to the next. The installation of the
robbins top was very easy, once I drilled out the pre-existing rivets from
my top hardware.
