I'm not sure "work" is the right word to use in that subject line. I was
helping out my father with his entry at the Concourse de Elegance at the
University of Utah on Sunday. His car was in a different class (but it won
first place!) but behind us on the lawn were a class of 50's and 60's
european sports cars. The class included a Sunbeam Tiger, a really nice
Alpha (which looked almost just like the Tiger), 2 Citrons, and finally an
MGA and beautiful Jag XK150. Judging began at the Jag end of the line, and
it's neighbor was the MG. The Jag would have easily won it's class...it
was truely a beautiful car...only - it wouldn't start. Distributor died
while it was sitting on the lawn. After several tries to fire it up by the
owner, the judges finally moved on to the MG. It was really nice too, and
it started right up, but the left front turn signal wouldn't come
on...until just after the judges moved on to the Porche. Of course the
banter of the crowd instantly became mostly Lucas jokes, and horror stories
about "used-to-have" LBCs. I just watched and thought...gee, I thought
those components were EXPECTED to just work once in a while. I know most
of my spit's do!
