A question for anyone who has ever welded on Spitfire fenders. There is a
seam aft of the rear wheels where the bottom of the fender is spot welded to
the rear valance and the side panels that are part of the trunk. This seam
had a sheet metal strip on it that covered up the joint--it was held in
place with two spot welds. This cover seemed to be a good rust attracter.
Anyone have any suggestions for a better way to cover this joint? I have
welded on new fenders and am hesitant to put the rust attracter back on.
Has anyone else on the list done this before? Thanks in advance for the
help.
