OK ball joints are easy, although you may wan't to look at doing all the
suspension while your at it.  

Slacken of the lower bolt though the shock.  How old is the shock do you
need a new one, the diference can be amasing.  Remove the bolt through
the trunsion.  These can stick in there so be warned. 

Remove the two bolts through the upper wishbone.  

Clean realy clean the thread through of the balljoints tapered bit.  
You don't want to have to use much force to get it of, incase you brake
the stiction of the tapered joint.  Then use a balljoint splitter to get
the thing off.  

Replace the bushes in thr trunions, clean them out, try and clean out
all the oilways in them.  Re-do the bushes if you wish, and replace the
shocks if they need it.  Put the whole lot back to gethere.  

Then put some faithfull gear oil in the trunion, using a grease gun, and
open a tin of beer.  Drink, you will find you car stick to the road so
much better now:-)
