I have a 75 spit also converted back to points type
distributor. An ex British Leyland mechanic that did
the conversion recommended setting timing at 8
degrees BTDC. Also my dizzy has no vacuum advance/retard.
Car starts and runs fine at this setting with no run-on after ignition
is turned off.
