Hey guys (and gals!), I scored a JL 10W1 PowerWedge and Alpine 260W mono
amp for $100 (stupid coast guard officers) and have spent all day
yesterday trying to hook it up to my wife's premium (as in not JBL)
sound system, it's just got the one amp. I spliced the power, ground,
and logic mute wires ok, and spliced the LR/LR + and - pre-amp wires
into two coax cables cos that's the input into the amp (it's a good
thing I do this sort of stuff professionally). I know power's getting to
the amp, but should I have spliced the post-amp signal wires into the
amp? cos the subwoofer isn't doing a damn thing. Swapping + and - make
not a difference, and I know the splices were done correctly cos the
rear speakers are still getting a signal. I'm gonna go down there with a
multimeter today to figure out where I'm losing voltage but that's
killin' me.
Also, I found a motorola transmitter (3 watt) on the roof of my wife's
car's trunk. WTH? It has a coax going from it (ostensibly to the antenna
on the rear window), some parallel cable, and a CAT5e. I've never seen a
car with network cable in it, but there it is. Does anybody know what
this all goes to? It's a ford part w/ ford PN, and one of the connectors
on it leads me to think it's part of this 'cellular phone' option that
the EVTM makes reference to but I've never heard of. If that's the case,
does anybody know where else in the car to look for cellular phone
option parts? maybe the other end of that CAT5e cable?
Oh, and if anybody from SHObros. is reading, please hurry up with my
motor mount! I really really need that, man! Like, it's not even funny!
Jason
