I've run 235/45-17 on 7.5" rims with bad result in that the car "floated" too
much in turns.
I've run 235/45-17 on 8" rims with significantly improved steering response.
IMO, and based on everything I've heard around here, 235/45-17 is not
recommended for 7.5"rims. Though, it's not awful either, but surely it's not
optimal if steering response is of importance to you.
I would go with at least an 8" rim.
