The first thing I look at in any ATX is fluid. Unless you know it has
mechanical problems I would always try that first. Have it flushed, not
just drained, and get the filter changed. I have seen all manner of trans
problems solved by this simple fix. Mention to the mechanic that is doing
the flush what the car is doing and ask him to let you know what the fluid
looks like.
