Kindof a dumb suggestion, but has the lugnut cover been popped off? It
sounds like either some lugnuts have worked themselves loose, or straight up
wheel studs sheering off has taken place.

I vote bad axle, Had this on my 92. The suspension was tight in all
directions but it had a shake in the steering that was especially noticable
under acceleration. I replaced the axle and the shake disappeared.
