Jim, I hate to say it, but YES!!!
in fact, my neighbor bought an IOT enable stove. I showed him that I=20
could turn it on and off from my house.
There is a saying in the cyber security world, "The "S" in "IOT" stands=20
for security!"
These home camera systems, door bells, baby monitors, refrigerators, TVs,=20
and of course, Siri/Alexa are constantly gathering data from you.
Think about the topics you talk about in your kitchen. Many of these=20
devices have at LEAST a mic, and now many have cameras as well.
This is not 'conspiracy nonsense' look up the reports about it.

Sorry for the off topic but I know there are many computer experts out=20
there.=20
I bought this printer so I would have a "simple" B&W laser jet for=20
shipping labels.=20
When I bought it I missed that is has to stay connected to the web even=20
after set up and subsequent printing through the USB cable.=20
I am hoping I can install the drivers for this thing without the need for=20
constant web access by the machine.=20
Any one have any thoughts on how I can do this? (near as I can tell, the=20
HP web site won't allow just downloading the drivers. It want access to my =
network on the very first step.)=20
