Though true that the destination's page may be hacked or the DNS address to the desired destination may be hijacked, at some point one must trust that the system is reasonably secure. tinyurl obscures the destination, so there is absolutely no way to know where one is going. Note that removing the google click-tracker ("?gclid=" plus 313 characters) reduced the length of the URL to a very reasonable 38 characters, of which only 26 are required for any modern browser to securely connect to the page. When I go through a search engine, I always try copying and pasting the link, then removing the click tracker ID before executing the "go" command. The click traker ID is generally unnecessary and always invasive :-) For the truly curious, if you click on the tinyurl link, you will get to the same link I shared <https://www.grainger.com/product/1MUC1> with these extra 230 characters: "?gclid=Cj0KCQiAlsv_BRDtARIsAHMGVSaJ6H7UZqtq8wDeFX1Xb8Gz9mymbdBNq2016x-zO9pgvpLMNWvaVDQaAs2YEALw_wcB&cm_mmc=PPC:+Google+PLA&ef_id=Cj0KCQiAlsv_BRDtARIsAHMGVSaJ6H7UZqtq8wDeFX1Xb8Gz9mymbdBNq2016x-zO9pgvpLMNWvaVDQaAs2YEALw_wcB:G:s&s_kwcid=AL!2966!3!456245466658!!!g!470562012602!&gucid=N:N:PS:Paid:GGL:CSM-1365:3GRDHM:20511231" attached, which is how Google knows where and when you come and go; they also know then that Bob shared the link and how many people followed the link that Bob shared! Removing the "?gclid" just increases your (and Bob's) personal privacy a bit.
