Do a google search for "bucket mouse trap" and you will see lots of examples of this. Usually it's a 5 gallon bucket. There's no reason to use gasoline. Water works fine, with antifreeze if in a freezing area. You just need to catch/kill mice, not incinerate them along with the whole building.
