Actually, now that I recall, one of the ridge vent ends I saw them entering=
/exiting from was on the north end of my house. I suppose they will use an=
y entrance they can to a nice cozy attic!
BTW, droppings will usually have sparkles from the insect wings.

Generally you will find bats entering and leaving in the east, south, or so=
utheast of the structure.=C2=A0 Any place I saw them entering my house was =
pretty protected, like a soffit, or the end of a ridge vent that was not se=
aled properly.=C2=A0 Droppings can be noticed on inside or outside.
I got most of my education (and the bat houses that I built) from the Bat C=
onservancy=E2=80=A6 http://www.batcon.org/, as well as the =E2=80=98bat man=

Subject: [Shop-talk] What animal is in my ceiling?
=C2=A0
I've searched the Internet, but all answers seem to require that I actually=
see evidence, and I don't. It's in the ceiling between floors. No dropping=
s anywhere. I hear little feet like mice skittering across the ceiling, and=
a great big ruckus like two squirrels chasing each other, moving quickly i=
n the 3/4" space created by the strapping between joists and sheetrock.=20
=C2=A0
They are loudly active mostly at night, almost always at 4:30am. Often in t=
he evenings, but sometimes during the day too. However, I haven't heard the=
m in 2 days. Sometimes this happens.
=C2=A0
I cannot find any entry points, so I can't observe how they are getting in.=
A lot of the roof trim is rotted at the ends, but there is no evidence of =
anything in the attic, and I never hear anything in the walls.=20
=C2=A0
In the past, any mice have eventually made it to the basement traps, but no=
t this time.=20
=C2=A0
thanks,
jim
