I haven't seen the original post yet, so I am replying to this reply.
I seem to remember seeing small yellow plastic fuel containers at
Walmart. Since I don't use diesel, I haven't looked that closely.

They have the red poly in smaller sizes, but not yellow. You could
always try to spray a red one with yellow plastic paint or wrap it in
yellow duct tape.
Should you go metal, Justrite 7110200 and 7120200 are 1 and 2 gallon
options.
