On my air tank, I simply replaced the hose with a quick-connect hose
fitting. If the fill valve doesn't leak, then you can use a
double-male fitting to fill the tank, and you shouldn't have to shut
it off since the hose fitting will keep the air from escaping. I use
my regular curly hose with the tank.
Have you hit it with soapy water to see where the leak might be?
