Could also be a misplaced timing belt. One notch the wrong way can
cause some interesting things to occur. BTDT when I replaced
the belt myself, but on a second gen Miata.

he recently had the timing belt replaced. I don't know if that requires r&r-ing
that bolt on the 1.6, though. I don't think it did on our '93 2.0 626.
