several years ago I picked up a set of Armstrong "thru the hole" sockets...
same design as you describe. something like 15 sockets and a ratchet
handle. I got a good deal andI had the same idea you had... they might be
handy. I think I've had them out of the case one time :-( But, they do
look good in the tool box.
