This is a great idea. I'll add it to the tips seciton.
Note, I was able to find a hardware store going out of business and I got
(for free) one of their "end cap" units that is a shelf designed to hold
cans of paint. It works perfectly!

Another tip that may be useful. Go to your local hardware home improvement
store. Head to the paint section, grab a can of spray paint, any color,
any brand,
whatever. Take this can to the roofing section with the shingles,
tarpaper and
gutters. Check out the various types of plastic gutters, see which ones
fit
the spray can. Buy a length of the gutter in the appropriate color with
the
proper hangers to go with it.
Back in the garage hang the gutter in various spots to provide convenient
storage trays for all the various types of spray cans one accumulates.
I also
have a small section over the sink to hold soap, sponges, etc.
