*I think you'll be surprised here . . the diesel tractor engine is good for
tens of thousands of hours of very efficient operation with normal
maintenance. I did the math on a Perkins engined Massey 235 38 pro hp
tractor: It'll deliver 17 horsepower for an hour on one gallon of fuel and
17 hp will gen up lots of electrics. Sounds like a great plan.*
