The "Punch" (www.punchsoftware.com) series of software is nice for
conceptualizing and the learning curve is quite shallow compared to AutoCAD
(which I suffered through in school). I used Punch Architectural Series 18 to
rough-out an addition last year, also used it to layout my fence by scanning
the township's engineering print of my lot and scaling it as a background.
