You are best off by storing them standing up on their tread, at a reduced
pressure. Check Tirerack, etc., for details. I used to stack them too, but
do not any more since researching the subject.
I have multiple sets of mounted tires under the house in cool, dark storage,
with no electrical motors (creating Ozone) present.

Subject: Tire storage
Seems I will have two sets of winter tires that I will need to store for 8
months of the year. These tires are always mounted on the rim. Currently
they are stacked up in the garage. I want the space back in the garage.
Where do you guys store your tires? I don't want to give up the space in
the shed either. Maybe a rack under the deck out of the sun. I could put
some type of roof on the rack so they don't get all moldy and mossy. Any
suggestions.
