I thought there should have been something like a 90 degree elbow, but I guess
since I was shopping at Home Depot (that will teach me, again), I did not see
anything similar. Thanks to your suggestion, I found:

  I'd prolly just take some more of that top rail and use regular fence 90
degree hardware to put verticals on just the four corners.  If you use regular
criss-cross stacking, there won't be much end-pressure. especially if it's
mostly split wood.   If it's round wood and end-pressure is a problem, tie the
tops of the verticals together with more 90 degree fence hardware and two more
8' top rails and you have a "box" that's brute strong.  You might want to
drill the fence hardware through the top-rail pieces and secure with stainless
deckscrews or something.
