I have the same questions. SO far my buddies have said the main
difference is time... The lower pressure units do the job it just
takes longer. I found in the past with large rental units you can
get the pressure too high and actually cut up the concrete. I did
have one coworker advise that contrary to popular thought, you can
get too big! He likes the speed of his mondo huge blaster, but now
he hates to have to move the unit away from well cleared, hard
surfaces.
Sams has a nice Karcher with 13hp Honda motor for around $800. On
the other hand, Home Depot often has smaller units out front marked
refurbished at a decent discount. Apparently they have returns
pretty often - Either they have a surprising failure rate, or lots of
folks get them for a specific job then bring them back when done...
Either there is a sweet spot where the cost and time required are
optimized, or it will just come down to finding a good deal. I would
never buy a used chain saw - are PWs like that?
