Well that is what I did. I tried a grease gun with brake fluid in it.
It'd pump some fluid (in addition to leaking out the barrel) but the
other problem is that the leaky old seals in the caliper just dribbled
brake fluid.
The grease worked. I suppose being more viscous helped.
