Unless you've found a way to do that while on track, as
Audi do with their racing R8, these surface temp gauges are
not much use for tire temp measuring. Tire treads cool down
far too rapidly when you slow down to drive in off the
track. Buy a digital probe to measure the carcase temp -
still not ideal but at least a reasonable guide.
