Don't know what your crawl space looks like. You are talking about under
the house.
In my attic, I have a truss roof. I took some 8' 2x4 and cut them in 1/2
so they were 4' long. I then used drywall screws to screw them to the
roof trusses. It turns out the trusses are 2' apart. So I was able to
use a single sheet of 1/2" plywood and get 4 shelves.
I also made some "L"s to connect the truss to the ceiling joists and
covered them with plywood. I always made my shelves 2' wide for cost
and economy of scale.

In my garage, I dropped 2x4s through the ceiling tied to the floor joists
and then lag bolted a 2x4 across the wall. So I have suspended shelves
in the garage. You might want to do something like that in the crawl
space. I think that would work very well.
