Doug,
I bought mine from Cytech (www.doublepark.net) in 1998. I was able to
assemble it myself with the help of a couple of floor jacks and I have had
no problems with it since I installed it. At the time I was looking for a
lift, there were four major companies selling four post lifts. The reasons
that I chose the Cytech were:
- The ramps were spaced closer together so that I thought that it would be
easier to drive my Healey and MG onto them.
- The posts are slotted so that the ends of the ramp cross members ride
inside of them. Others like the Backyard Buddy have a piece which goes
around the post and would be more likely to catch on things.
- When they sent me a spec sheet they include a copy of the safety test
report, showing that they had tested their design at twice the rated
capacity.

I'm getting more and more serious about buying a 4-post parking lift, since
I have 3 cars and 2 garage spaces. (The garage is 24x24x12, fortunately).
After browsing ads in Hemmings and using Google, I've found about a dozen
different brands for sale, with big variations in prices, and all claiming
to be the best. If anyone has any advice, especially based an actual
experience, I'd love to hear it.
(BTW, I tried searching the team.net list archives, but their search engine
does not seem to search any of the archives older then last month.
If you specifically tell it to search older archives, it never finds
anything.)
