I bought one of these a couple of weeks ago at REI. I am very happy with it.
(When I took out the old lamp,
I noticed that it had darkened quite a bit and was emitting maybe 50% of its
original output.)
If you get one, watch out for one thing: It is obviously polarized, and if you
install backwards it does not
work. But if you leave it backwards for any length of time with the power on,
a component on the little circuit
board (an inductor, I think) gets real hot. So when you install it, do so
without the batteries in place, and
power it up for just a second or so to see if the polarity is correct.
