I have a wood garage door. It's a typical sectional door, flush
style. The outside is some sort of composition board with a wood grain
pattern stamped into it. The hardware is all relatively new, but the wood
panels themselves are kind of beat. I was thinking about trying to make
some. The house is cedar. I could use some sort of cedar siding for the
outside surface. I was thinking about a frame, with cedar on the outside,
some sort of thin panel on the inside and some sort of insulation board in
the openings between. One thing is the panels can't come out too thick or
heavy. I suppose some sort of cedar veneer or thin panel could be used for
the outside, but I haven't seen anything appropriate in 16 foot
lengths. Also, the edges are routed in a matching pattern to reduce air
penetration between them. Does somebody sell a router bit or something to
do this? Has anyone out there ever done this? Suggestions welcome.
