Howdy,
Related to doing a gravel driveway/parking area myself...
I've got some equipment, but nothing like a professional excavator or
anything...
I've got an old L185 4wd Kubota (compact, 18hp), with a 5' blade, 24" dirt
scoop, and 6' landscape rake, all for the back. For rototilling, I was
planning on renting a rototiller attachement for the tractor and getting
that done quickly.
I'm not too excited about moving all that soil (probably 130 cubic yards),
but I don't really want the gravel area to be a lot higher than the
existing driveway area. I was hoping that by rototilling it, the back
blade (which only has gravity down pressure) on the kubota would do a
decent job of scraping down to the depth I want, then I could dirt scoop
the soil over to the backyard area, then landscape rake it all 'flat'.
I was hoping to get the project done in a week or so with some help from
my wife & parents (with my dad or wife on the tractor and me doing as much
of the physical work as possible).
Of course, if everyone tells me I'm a complete idiot to be thinking this,
I guess we can try and find a way to pay someone with real equipment to
come out and do the work... :-)
So... Am I being an idiot?
