I've had a few crow problems over the years and I have often settled for a
truce and a grudging respect for their intelligence. I once had a small
flock clever enough to tell the difference between a 22 rifle and a
broomstick when I'd come outside . . from a tree 200 yards away!
They DO always seem to respect the sound of gunfire . . I got good results
from the use of a 22 caliber blank starters pistol that I had laying around
. . after about three days of surprising them with the loud report, they
went looking for dog and cat food somewhere else.
