I just got back from a tech session at AutoSport in Seattle. We saw a
Lotus Twincam shortblock assembled. I asked about decking the block
and he uses a surface grinder. He's taking the surface down a thousandth
per pass until the wheel grinds the entire surface. As part of the build he
then checks the piston to deck clearance.
