Hey guys,
Thanks for all the replies. I got some carbide burrs earlier today, and they
are amazing relative to the HSS ones. I bought mine at an industrial tooling
place, for about $14/each (the price varied depending on shape/size). I saw
the set that was available at HF, but was a bit leery of the material quality
of the burrs; in general, are their cutting tools (drill bits, burrs, etc.)
a decent quality? Their prices are way cheaper, but I don't like skimping on
cutting tools, since a poor one can really screw up the work...

BTW, I did ask the salesperson about the HF vs. carbide. Her comment was that
the HSS would be good on wood, some plastic, and soft metals (except Al). It
was also good on steel, but for thin sheet and not the thick plate I was
grinding.
For Al, she had some special burrs, with deeper "teeth"; she said the deeper
teeth prevents it from loading up as much. She also suggested loading the burr
up with bar soap prior to cutting Al, so that the Al wouldn't get stuck in the
cutting edges. Hope that helps someone...

Mike
