I specifically asked at Sears, and was told that they would not handle
warranty issues for the non-Craftsman GearWrenches. Since this is the only
reason the Craftsman ones cost more, I'm inclined to believe that's correct.
Nor does the GearWrench packaging say you can return them to the dealer.
Some dealers may be willing to exchange, especially if you bought it there
recently, just to keep a customer, but I'll bet they get no support from the
factory.
BTW, I checked, nowhere on Sear's website does it say their Craftsman
GearWrenches are made in the USA. I even enlarged a photo of the packaging
to look for it. So, I'll bet it says something like "Made in Indonesia" in
the fine print on the back.
