OK, the Mitsubishi just broke this morning! This is a '92 Mitsubishi Expo
LRV Sport. 1.8L engine, 4 sp automatic. Top gear is an electric overdrive,
and therein lies the problem. The car now shifts 1 - 2 - 3 - neutral, and I
think I caught a whiff of burning electrics.
I can't complain because the car has 194,000 miles on it. I had the
overdrive replaced for the same problem, just after I bought the car. It
probably only had 65,000 miles on it then, and it was replaced under
warranty.
How hard is it to replace an overdrive unit on a front engine, FWD, Jap car?
This is the same engine as the Eclipse, BTW. Can I handle it in my garage,
or do I have to pull the engine, etc. Also, where do I find a cheeep
overdrive?
Any help will be greatly appreciated, and I'll have a beer in your honor.
