I am lucky enough to have a neighbor who is a house painter. A few years ago he
loaned me his cheap Campbell-Hausfeld (Sp?) sprayer to start on my garage. It
was lousy, hard to get the spray pattern and thickness right. Then, for some
reason, he loaned me his $3K sprayer. What a dream! that machine sprayed the
perfect amount of paint every time.

I suggest renting the best equipment you can, especially for all of those
irregular surfaces you mentioned. It goes very fast, so you could probably do
it in a weekend, if all of the prep was done beforehand.

Hi all :

Having neglected my home far too long, and being a neophyte at painting, I'm
looking for some recommendations on paint sprayers. I'd like something that
will handle fairly thick latex paint, with a minimum of hassle. Tried one
of those hand=held buzzy things many years ago, it shortly went in the
trash. Have they gotten any better ?
I do have a modest air compressor, realistically it'll probably do 4 scfm @
40 psi which would run a low volume paint gun; but I'm assuming that's not
what I want for spraying latex ?
I do need to do many irregular surfaces, so a roller is out of the question.
Does that leave the high pressure professional airless units as my only
choice ?

All opinions and anecdotes appreciated.

TIA
Randall
