I've got two twin tube 8 foot florescent lights in my wife's mostly unheated
bird room (attached two car garage). These lights are on all day every day.
Even so they seem to go through an alarming number of bulbs.
I have replaced the ballasts with new standard ones but that didn't seem to
help. What other options do I have here? The lights must be on during the day
for the birds. What about replacing the ballasts again with the new electronic
style? Would bulbs last longer? I'm sure the cold doesn't help matters either.
Do the electronic ballasts handle the cold better?
How about going to two, 4 tube, 4 foot fixtures? Are 4 foot bulbs that much
cheaper? What about another type of lighting besides fluorescents? It has got
to be bright though.
Thanks
Wayne
