I was just looking 'round the new Mini web site (www.miniusa.com) and checked
out the difference between the Mini Cooper and the Mini Cooper S on the specs
pages. Curious, but it appears they made a typo! If the info is correct,
please enlighten me.
Mini Cooper
1.6L transverse 4
Bore/stroke - 3.03/3.38
HP - 115@6000 rpm
Torque - 110@4500 rpm
Comp. ratio - 10.6:1
Mini Cooper S
1.6L transverse 4
Bore/stroke - 3.03/3.38
HP - 163@6000 rpm
Torque - 155@4500 rpm
Comp. ratio - 8.3:1
Please 'splain how the S can have so much more HP and torque with a
considerably lower compression ratio. The rest of the engine appears to be
basically the same.
