I've had it with extension cords that are 50ft. too long or 2ft. too short for
semi permanent installations. Yes, I know you are not supposed to use
extension cords for permanent installations, but I'm talking about the real
world here.
The latest escapade is a small chest freezer that is ~8ft. away from the
outlet. My available extension cords are 6ft., 50ft., or 100ft in length. So,
I've had it with this madness and am going to start making my own cords. Going
to get a spool of wire and a handful of male and female plugs to keep on hand
for occasions like this.
What wire should I use for general purpose extension cords? Maybe 12/3 SJ or
SJO?
