I don't know where you live, but around here (MA) unpainted wood is valuable
and people will pay for it. Makes much more sense than tossing it in
the landfill for a fee. Depending on the barn, you could sell it as is
and have someone pay you to come take it.

Absolutely. Never burn pained, finished or treated wood.
