I'm not sure if this is the right tool for the job... Basically I have an
old Ford pickup, where a large metal plate is bolted on the bumper as a
drop-hitch of sorts, with L-bracket supports going up underneath welded to
the frame. I want this to go away (not my idea), so I'm thinking one of
those angle grinders with a good wheel on it could essentially "grind away"
the weld.
Am I way off-base here? Can I use the wheels on the edges like that or do
they need to be applied to metal flat side down? I'm also getting into
some light motorcycle restoration and this sort of tool seems like the kind
of thing I might find a thousand uses for. Before I run off and spend $$
on one I thought I would make sure I'm using the right thing here.
Also - they come in lots of different sizes. What are the benefits to
larger ones? The differences seem to be that larger wheels have more
powerful and sometimes faster motors. Do I care? Not really sure how to
pick one of these out. What brands do you guys like?
Thanks!
