I've got a 4.5 and a 9" unit, most of the time I use the 4.5 because
it's handier. The bigger one is more powerfull by far, but it's more
exhausting as well, particularly when doing vertical or overhead work.
That's why I used the 4.5" this past month to strip the paint from my
house, not the 9".
There is a safety issue with the big ones as well, mostly having to do
with fatigue, a 4.5" wheel hurts like heck when it blows, a 9" wheel is
devistating. Catch your power cord in the wire brush of a 9" grinder
and it'll hog tie you before you know what happened. I've got some
nasty scars from using a 9" SAG, none from the 4.5".
A 7" isn't as bad as a 9" on this safety and fatigue, but it isn't as
powerfull either.

I've got a 4-1/2" grinder that I use for everything... shaping, weld
clean
up, wire brushing etc... what advantage would I gain with a big ole
honkin 7" grinder, other than sore arms from holding it up
if I had a lot of grinding to do, would it be quicker, easier, what
????
