The nuts aren't disposable, at least for teams with a budget. They don't get
reused in the course of a race. The nuts and the socket on the air gun
are tapered so they can be faster with them. It's amazing how ffast they
are though. The NASCAR pit stops are only a couple seconds longer than
F1 stops, with half the people, only one jack and unpressurized fuel
delivery.
