And you are experiencing the golden rule of diesels. Maintenance....you've
gotta do it especially changing the oil or it'll up and die on you right
when you don't need the trouble.

The runon problem is related to the fuel pump being 'allowed' to continue
pumping fuel. Might be a an internal fault but check any electrical connects
to it are good.
